Emergency Locator Transmitter(ELT)

Definition

A device that transmits a distress signal on 121.5 MHz and 406 MHz upon impact or manual activation to aid search and rescue. Required equipment on most aircraft. 406 MHz ELTs provide GPS coordinates.
