Trust & Credibility

Built by a CPL candidate. Audited by retired captains and DPEs.

This page is half-built on purpose. We are showing you the empty advisor slots before they are filled because the alternative is hiding the gap. Below is what is real today (the founder, the methodology, the customers paying us right now) and what is in progress (named external advisors, customer video testimonials).

Advisory Board

We do not list advisors who have not actually reviewed our content. The grid below is real or empty. Each advisor signs a one-paragraph statement attesting to what specifically they reviewed and when. Statements are reproducible on request.

Status — 2026-05-15

Advisory board recruitment is in progress. We expect 4 named advisors live on this page by 2026-06-30. Publishing now, half-built, because hiding the gap is dishonest.

Retired US Legacy Captain

Pending: review of PPL/IFR/Commercial banks against current ACS.

Target advisor profile: Retired Delta, United, American captain with training-department experience.

FAA Designated Pilot Examiner

Pending: 100-question random audit of PPL/IFR/Commercial/ATP banks.

Target advisor profile: Active multi-rating DPE; written-test alignment authority.

Active Emirates / Qatar / Etihad Pilot

Pending: review of Emirates and Gulf carrier interview modules.

Target advisor profile: Active A380/777 First Officer or Captain with English-coaching background.

LATAM Senior Airline Pilot

Pending: validation of DGAC Perú, DGAC Colombia, and ANAC Brasil question banks.

Target advisor profile: Senior Avianca, LATAM Airlines, or Aerolíneas Argentinas pilot.

When each slot fills, the placeholder is replaced with the advisor's name, headshot, credentials, LinkedIn link, and a one-paragraph attestation specific to the content they reviewed. Nothing here is decorative.

The Founder

Renzo Macario

I am a Peruvian commercial pilot candidate who built Rotate because the existing written-test prep tools failed me as a student. The question banks were either dated, badly translated for LATAM pilots, or written by software engineers who had never set foot in a Cessna 172.

I started Rotate in 2024 as a side project to organize my own PPL study material. By 2025 it was helping a small group of friends prep for their checkrides. Today it serves working pilots from Lima to Atlanta, and it pays for itself.

I am the wrong person to validate every airline interview module or DPE-grade question bank on this platform. That is why every major content track on Rotate is audited by a named industry advisor before it ships, and re-audited annually.

How we validate our content

Every content track on Rotate goes through a four-step validation pipeline before it reaches a paying user.

  1. 1

    Source-anchored writing

Every question is written against a public source — FAA ACS, FAR/AIM, ICAO Doc 9835, EASA Part-FCL, DGAC regulations, or carrier-published interview guides. Each carries an internal citation.

  2. 2

    Internal cross-check

Two CFI-rated contractors independently solve each new question and flag disagreements. Disagreements are rewritten or dropped.

  3. 3

    External advisor audit

A named industry advisor (retired captain, active DPE, or examiner) reviews a randomized 100-question sample per track at launch and again every 12 months. Audit log includes date, advisor, accept/reject rate, and changes.

  4. 4

    User-flag review

Every paid user can flag a question. Flags route to a weekly review. We typically resolve flagged questions within 14 days. Resolution log available on request.

If we cannot defend a question against a source, an advisor, and a flagging user, we delete it. We have deleted approximately 8% of our original question bank this way. That is not a bug. That is the system working.

FAQ

Is Rotate FAA-approved?
No — and no third-party written-test prep tool is. The FAA approves test centers (PSI, LaserGrade) and practical examiners, not study tools. Sporty's, King Schools, Pilot Institute, and Rotate all operate as study aids. What matters is whether our questions track the current FAA ACS. They do — we sync against ACS revisions and log every change.
How are advisors selected and paid?
We approach advisors directly via LinkedIn or email. Each signs a content-review agreement specifying what was reviewed and what they were paid. Advisors receive a flat honorarium ($300–$1,000 depending on scope), advisory equity (0.1–0.5% vesting 24 months), or recurring revenue share. Payment type is disclosed next to each advisor's name. We do not hide that advisors are compensated.
Can the AI Tutor make up FAR citations?
It can — like every LLM. Our guardrails: (1) the tutor is grounded against FAR Parts 61, 91, 107, 121, 135 and the current AIM. (2) Every citation links to the FAA source. (3) Numeric answers carry a 'cross-check' badge. (4) Flag any suspect answer; flagged exchanges get human review within 48 hours. Never rely on AI alone for checkride numbers.
Will I get sales calls?
No. We have no phone number to call you from and we do not pass your email to any advisor, partner school, or affiliate. Emails you receive: transactional (receipts, password resets), the weekly study digest (mutable), and any 60-day pass-guarantee reminders you enabled. One-click unsubscribe everywhere.
What happens to my progress if I cancel?
Cancellation ≠ deletion. Your account stays open on the free Cadet tier — all progress, streaks, flashcard scores, and quiz history stay intact. Resubscribe anytime. If you delete your account separately, personal data is purged within 30 days. Export your data as JSON anytime from Settings → Export.
Does payment work in my country?
We use Stripe, which accepts cards from 130+ countries. Confirmed working: US, Canada, UK, EU, Australia, India, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Philippines, Indonesia. If declined: try a different card, authorize international transactions in your banking app, or email hello@rotatepilot.com for a Wise invoice.
